Choosing a Drug Treatment Center

Whether you are choosing a drug treatment facility for yourself or someone you love it is important to get what you need out of that center. Not all are created equal and not all of them will be a good match for you or your loved one. You need to consider the following:
  • Cost - is the center within your price range and does it accept the insurance and payment type that you have.
  • Treatment programs - you should make sure they treat your particular drug addiction and if necessary they should offer mental health services for you as well.
  • Philosophy - it is good to make sure you check on the treatment centers philosophy and beliefs. They should not go against your core belief system.
  • Credentials - make sure that all therapists and administrators have adequate credentials and that the facility is property licensed and insured.
  • Success - ask about the statistics on the success rate of the facility.
  • Continuing Support - when it comes to your exit plan from any drug rehabilitation program you should make sure that there is continuing support. Find out what services are offered in this regard.
  • Length of Treatment - find out how long the programs run for.
  • Clientele - find out who they treat and what they specialize in. If you are a 40 year old male you do not want to end up in a center that mainly caters to pregnant or postpartum women.
  • Proximity - Being near your support group is a key element to success in drug treatment. If you can find a center near your family or your friends that will help you through the process it is always best.
