Physical warning signs - these are some of the signs you may see but remember that this is not all inclusive and if you suspect drug abuse you need to seek help.
- Cycles of increased energy, restless behavior and changes in sleep cycles
- Slowed reaction time, speech or other behaviors
- Marked weight changes
- Excessive sleep in cycles
- Changes in clothing (perhaps to hide needle marks)
- Any sign of drug paraphernalia
- Chronic sinus problems or nose bleeds
- Constant signs of bronchitis or breathing troubles
- Ongoing dental problems
Mental/Emotional warning signs -
- Over abundance of energy, more talkative than normal
- Irritability, anxiety, increase in anger or uncontrollable anger
- Lethargic behavior, overly calm or unfazed by what is going on around them
- Depression or depressed behavior
- Delusions or paranoia
- Hallucinations
Other signs -
- Theft
- Loss of concern for personal hygiene
- Lack of concern about a job or increased job instability
- Distancing oneself from family and friends/increased isolation
- Doctor hopping/ excessive refills of prescription drugs
