Physical Signs of Cocaine Use

Physical signs of cocaine use - Some of the physical signs of cocaine use to look for are:

Change in eating habits and/or rapid weight loss. Many cocaine users have a lack of appetite and more energy therefore dramatically reducing their caloric intake and burning more calories as well.
Change in sleeping habits. Cocaine users may require less sleep while they are under the influence of the cocaine. They will stay awake for longer continuous periods of time, followed by "crashes" for longer than normal sleep periods at odd times.
Runny nose. Because cocaine is usually snorted through the nostrils it creates some weaknesses in the nasal cavaties. Many cocaine addicts have a constantly runny nose, or sniff constantly for no apparent reason.
Bloodshot eyes are a classic sign of many forms of substance abuse, and holds true for cocaine substance abuse as well.
General disregard for hygiene. A cocaine addict may stop taking proper care themselves. The cocaine addiction starts to be a bigger priority than caring about showering, shaving and keeping one's appearance neat may begin to take backseat to the addiction. Cocaine substance abuse tends to lead users to stop caring about their clothes, cleanliness and general physical well-being.
Asking for money. Cocaine is expensive. Part of the reason that so many users are also dealers is because it costs a great deal to keep up the habit. Cocaine addicts may ask for money repeatedly in order to finance the habit, some may even resort to shoplifting. Also look for evidence that a loved one may be selling personal items of sentimental value.
